The London Monarchs played in the World League of American Football (WLAF) as one of its original teams and won World Bowl I. Unfortunately the team never had a winning record again and interest in the team declined in the mid 90's. William "The Refrigerator" Perry came our of retirement to play one year in 1996, but the team was never able to regain the fans' interest. In its final season, 1998, it was known as the England Monarchs and played in various stadiums around England.
